Alton Towers: Nemesis (action)Oh man .. where to begin with Nemesis. I'm tempted to just say "speechless", but that's a bit of a copout .. so...Nemesis was the one coaster I was most looking forward to on the entire trip. I know I prefer wood, but next to wood are B&M Inverted coasters which just kick so much ass it's not funny. Nemesis didn't disappoint. The whole coaster is built into the landscape, that was blasted and hacked to make room. Since Alton Towers can't build above the tree-line, they had to build down ... into the ground. My anticipation built to almost frantic levels as I walked over to Nemesis, it's a long walk! And when I saw it for the first time .. well "in awe" is probably going over-board, but it was pretty freaking impressive. This is really old school B&M, with insane forces, and theming that not even Disney has matched on a coaster. Nemesis is probably one of the most perfect steel coasters I've ridden .. Amazingly I was tempted to add the rating "A++" to my ratings page. However that would be too geeky, even for me! We had about 90 minutes of Exclusive Ride Rime on Nemesis, and I just could not tear myself away. Sure Air was running right next door, but screw that! The only down side is that it's so far away.. So take a look at these action shots .. which of course don't do anything for this amazing ride: Take a look at the amazing theming.
