Alton Towers: Rita
Rita is an Inatimin Rocket Coaster that opened last
year (2005). I really wasn't expecting much from this, since I've yet to
be impressed by one of these (OK, Stormrunner was fun). However Rita does
kick a little bit of ass! Our hour of ride-time on this was great.
The launch is swift and smooth, and the ride is pretty low to the ground; as
a result the train traverses the turns really quickly. The ride also pulls
some surprisingly strong forces through the turns, although the hills don't
produce much air.
Probably the biggest fault is with the restraints .. these hard, razor thin,
over-the-shoulder bastards that left bruises that still haven't faded (ten
days later!).
Anyway it's a pretty coaster, so enjoy the photos...
