Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Mad Mouse

!!
OK .. this ride is NUTS .. NUTS!! Like, I mean scary nuts! I don't
think I have laughed and been bruised as much by any other ride. It makes
all other mouse coasters seem like fluffy little kittens playing with
brightly coloured balls of yarn!
Blackpool initially had maintenance schedule to take place on the Wild Mouse
while we were there .. however once they realized how much we all wanted to
ride it, they rescheduled (awesome, huh?!). I'm so glad they did!
I'd heard about how intense the old wooden mouse coasters were, and I even
rode one the previous day at Southport. Man .. I though that one was wild!
This one starts off in typical mouse style .. with the switch-backs. Like all
wooden mouse coasters, the cars tilt (to the outside) as you go around the
turns .. it's load of fun. However then the speed increases, and the turns
get tighter, and the hills .. oh man .. the hills make Magnum at Cedar Point
or Phantoms Revenge at Kennywood look totally flat. These hills were
throwing me at least a foot in the air above the seat .. laughing hysterically
(and hanging on) the whole time. This is a real white-knuckle ride!
At one point you drop down this totally insane and sudden drop into a
straight section of track .. it's lined with brakes, and I actually thought
"thank-god the brakes will slow me down a bit..". Of course the brakes
didn't touch the car at all, and immediately following the brakes is a
hip-crunching 90-degree right-hand turn. Madness .. utter madness! And I
haven't even mentioned the places where you actually have to duck!
