Whizzer

Whizzer was built with the rest of the park, and started operating in 1976. This beautiful Schwarzkopf speed-racer is now one of the last in the world, and several things make it unique. Unlike most coasters, Whizzer doesn't contain a chain lift - instead the cars have built-in motors which pull the train up the awesome spiral lift-hill. This is also the closest thing Six Flags Great America has to a terrain coaster, since much of the ride takes place deep within trees and bushes. Several sections fly right over water, too. It's great!

Rumors are abound, again, that this ride will be removed at the end of the 2005 season - hopefully these are false. Whizzer is an amazing family ride, where little kids can sit in their parents lap. This was the first big coaster for most people who grew-up in the Chicago area. It would be a terrible shame to lose.

Due to the hidden nature of this ride, photos are difficult!
