A Walk Down Pit Lane
I was extremely lucky and was offered a walk down pit lane, several days before the race. This was an amazing opportunity as this type of thing is usually restricted quite heavily. I was taken into the Renault garage and walked right up to Fernando Alonso's car, which was quite incredible! All the photos are from pretty far away as I was asked to be discrete with the camera.One thing I really noticed is that all the garages were exceptionally clean, more like an operating theatre than a typical garage. I was told that this made it easier to deal with the zillions of things that need to be delt with. Everything needs to be quiet, calm and orderly because there is just so much to do; if there was oil and mess everywhere then nothing would get done.
After the walk, I got a slow drive around the track. This was also very cool as it gave me an opportunity to see so much of what's there (braking markers and so on). The light was fading, so the photos aren't great, but they're here anyway .. take a look, and be very envious! :)
