Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Steeplechase
I was looking forward to this ride, but I totally did not expect just how cool it was going to be. The ride is made up of single cars, each is shaped like a galloping horse that can hold one or two people. It's fun as there are three tracks in parallel, and you race your friends!The ride originally opened in 1977, and is still running really well. There used to be a similar ride at Knotts Berry Farm in LA, called "Wacky Soap Box Racers", but stupid Knotts took it out.
We had Ride Time on this, and Dan, John and myself rode it over five times in a row without even getting off. It's really not a fast ride, but it sure is fun .. and very peaceful in a way. I'd love to see one of these built in the states, but I imagine it would need some totally obtrusive restraint system that would spoil the nature of the ride.
